What does organic mean?
Organic is the term used to describe the way a crop or animal is farmed. It takes into account all of the areas associated with production including animals, plants and the environment. It is done so without the use of harmful chemicals, pesticides and genetic modification. Produce is grown the way nature intended.
What is Organic Skincare?
When it comes to organic skincare, the raw ingredients used are sourced in the same way without any harmful and unnatural processing and manipulation. Due to organic ingredients being preserved in their natural composition, this often results in more nutrient dense, potent ingredients as nothing has been stripped away. A recent study by The Soil Association showed that organic skincare ingredients contained up to 60% more antioxidants than non-organic ingredients which means more benefits for your skin.

Organic September is a celebration of all things organic. It’s a time to raise as much awareness as possible in relation to organic farming across all industries including fashion, food and beauty and how we can all start to make better choices for ourselves and the planet.

What is Organic Certification?
Certified organic skin care means brands and products that have undergone a rigorous third-party certification process to guarantee they genuinely are organic.
Organic certification guarantees that brands use natural ingredients from organic farming that are sourced and manufactured sustainably with non-GM ingredients, herbicides, pesticides or synthetic chemicals or fragrances. In order to receive organic certification skin care brands also have to use ingredients that are sourced sustainably and don’t damage the environment as well as use ethical, safe manufacturing processes and green packaging.
As more and more of us become aware of the need to live more sustainably, swapping over to organic products where we can, makes a real positive difference. As consumers we all hold the power to make better choices every day and Organic September is all about celebrating this.
